The total number of females residing in Assam that is 65,74, 794, the number of females residing in rural areas is 56,34,885 and only 9139,909 females resides in urban areas. The total number of children in the age group 0 -6 years is 44,98,075 of which 22,89,116 are male and 22,08,959 are females. Of the total rural population of 41,04,407 ; 2101,79,08 are female's.
The literacy rate of the total population is 63.25% and for females it is 54.61% as against 71.28% for males. This falls to 59.73% of the total rural population and only 50.70% of total rural female population.
The percentage of marriage occurring below 18 years is 23.8% as against 38 % in the national level. 40.6% of the marriage has birth order of three or more. 24.2% females know about all the methods of family planning and 28.7% of married females are practicing any kind of family planning methods as against 56.5% in the national level. 42.6% of all pregnant women has undergone full antenatal checkup in comparison to 36.3% in the national level. 61.5°/c has had some kind of antenatal checkup. 26.8% of all deliveries are institutional deliveries as for 22.7% in the national level and 33.2% of all deliveries are done with aseptic precaution.
