By allowing customers to trade in old devices for instant value on new purchases, the program encourages upgrades while promoting responsible e-waste management.
Central to this program is an AI-driven screening process that evaluates devices quickly and reliably through a 10-step diagnostic framework. Trained exchange experts assess both internal functionality and external condition within minutes, ensuring competitive exchange rates and a transparent experience for customers. Flipkart emphasizes that household items such as unused phones or appliances can now act as “currency at home,” converted instantly into value toward new products.
The program supports exchanges both within the same category and across categories. For example, a refrigerator can be exchanged for a washing machine, or an old smartphone for a new laptop. Even smaller items like fans or microwaves can be traded for products such as water purifiers, geysers, chimneys, or vacuum cleaners, making it easier for customers to upgrade their homes and personal technology.
Using the program is straightforward: customers select an eligible product and enter device details to receive an exchange value, which is deducted from the new purchase price. During delivery, an expert inspects the old item, verifies its condition, and completes the exchange process.
Ahead of the festive season, Flipkart is enhancing its ReCommerce ecosystem with AI-powered pricing, app-based diagnostics, image authentication for fairness, and broader seller participation. The company has also introduced smartphone exchanges via Flipkart Minutes, enabling instant mobile swaps, and continues to expand its SellBack program across more than 45 cities, offering additional benefits for gift card users.
Flipkart partners with certified e-waste recyclers to responsibly manage exchanged products, ensuring safe disposal and reuse in line with global sustainability standards. This program not only provides customers with seamless upgrade opportunities but also reinforces Flipkart’s commitment to affordability, convenience, and environmental responsibility.
